MINISTRY OF HEALTH, NPHA AND PARTNERS RECEIVE ANOTHER CONSIGNMENT OF VACINNE

Freetown International Airport; 18 July 2025:  Sierra Leone received another consignment of Mpox vaccines of 50,000 doses, delivered via Brussels Airlines. The vaccines, donated by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, were officially received by the Hon. Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby, joined by representatives from the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and UNICEF. This latest batch follows an earlier donation of 63,000 doses from Gavi about three months ago, further strengthening the country’s efforts to protect frontline responders and at-risk populations amid ongoing Mpox response activities. In just over six months in the response, the government of Sierra Leone has been able to secure about 206,000 doses of Mpox Vaccine,  demonstrating the commitment of government and its partners to the eradication of infectious diseases in the country.
